I read a variety of books when I was younger, but one that I specifically remember reading was Junie B Jones. I had the whole entire collection at home. I think my favorite was the one about the lunch lady. In which, Junie B Jones had to help the lunch lady?? I am honestly not sure because it was so long ago. I think (obviously) I would write a not too scary but dark children's book. I think it would be hard for me because I try to be so formal in my writing, so trying to write a book that children will understand, I feel, will be difficult.
ReplyDeleteSome of my favorite books growing up to read were the Diary of a Wimpy kid books. The books were pretty much all about Greg who is a kid in middle school growing up and all of the things going on in his life. I really liked the books because they were really relaxing to read and I could look at the pictures as well so I can get that clear image while reading the text. I think that it would be difficult because you would have to go back to your childhood and remember how that was.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite books when I was a kid was the skippyjon Jones books. I loved reading them because it was a cute little cat going on all types of crazy adventures. Its was just a really cute series and I used to love reading them with my mom.
ReplyDeleteSo I think it would be really difficult to write a childs book because there are already so many so I think it'll ber hard to be original.
A children's book I really like is Strega Nona. The idea of a grandma witch that makes spaghetti is very awesome and comforting for some reason. It was at my grandma's house when I was little, and I really liked reading it. I also loved the pigeon books! I liked the art style, and they were very silly!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to write a children's book about being kind, and probably about puppies or kitties, because who doesn't like baby animals? I think it would be great fun to write a children's book. I am very young at heart and I love to be silly! I also have a lot of knowledge of early childhood development, and I feel that writing a children's book would be a great way to apply what I know and to write an age-appropriate book.
One difficulty I think I would have in writing a children's book is that I like writing about morality and abstract themes, which can be hard for a child to understand. So, I would have to write about things they do understand!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid my favorite book was easily Diary of a wimpy kid because everybody loves an underdog. The story is about a unpopular insecure kid named Greg Heffley who go through the battles of a slow maturing preteen and how he overcomes each challenge that follows each new day. To me it meant a source of comfort and understanding we all are scared of this world just as much as the other and everyday is a new learning experience. I would most definitely love to write a children's book as n a sense its already in my plans to inform young children on past misfortunes in a subtle but friendly way, that seems simple to understand for a child.
When I was little, one of my favorite books was Diary of a Worm, and those books like that. The librarian at my school said I needed to stop checking it out because I read it too often. I liked how it was in first person and that it was a new perspective. I thought it was silly, and I liked the big pictures to go with it. It was since then I was more open to book in first person. It inspired me to write my own story about a duck named Lucky, based off an eraser I got from the book fair. I never got farther than the title, but I really liked it. He had an older sister and a little brother. I think writing a children's book is more difficult than what one may think it is. The reason I think that is because it is difficult to come up with an original concept. It can also be difficult to come up with a complex idea and put it into simpler ideas. Some people think it is a bunch of simple sentences with a simple plot, but it can be so much more than that.
ReplyDeleteA children's book that I really loved was Stripes. It is about a girl who hates lima beans, and is also really indecisive about what she wears. As a reaction to this, she breaks out in rainbow stripes all over her. The reaction becomes worse and worse and worse, so bad that she morphes into her actual bedroom walls. Finally when she feels like she can't take it anymore, an old woman comes to visit her with a bag full of lima beans. The old woman advises her to eat the lima beans as a cure. The girl does as she says and sure enough, her stripes are gone. I liked the book because of how weird it is and how many bright colors were in it. I think it would be really cool to write a kid's book with mainly, if not all, illustrations and convey the story just with colors and character imagery.
ReplyDeleteA book that I really liked as a kid was Pinkalicious. It's about a girl who eats too many pink cupcakes and, as a result, wakes up the next morning to find that she has turned pink. At first, she is really happy about this because her favorite color is pink, but her perception of this situation is slightly changed when she goes to the park with her family. Bees think she's a flower, her friends don't notice her due to her blending in with all of the pink flowers in the park, and she can no longer enjoy her favorite kind of ice cream: strawberry. However, she doesn't take her doctor's advice to eat more green vegetables to turn her back to normal. That night, she sneaks out of bed to eat the forbidden pink cupcake that her mother hid on top of the fridge. The next morning, she wakes up to find that she has turned bright red and she can only see the color pink. She finally takes the advice she was given, eating some of almost every green food in the fridge. Soon enough, she turns back to normal. I think I really liked this story because my favorite color was pink and I really liked vegetables as a kid. The book also had pretty good illustrations, and was eventually adapted into a stage musical, which I also saw and liked.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be really difficult to write a good children's story. I tried to write one for a final in a middle school science class once about wetlands, but my friends and I agreed it would be difficult for small children to understand. I'm also not around children a lot, so I don't know how to talk to them or what they like.
DeleteOne of my favorite childhood books was fancy nancy because I related to her I loved to color purple and I loved being fancy. She would always play dress up and that was my favorite thing to do when I was growing up. I loved wearing dress and pretending to be a princess. My mom would read all the books and I would get every new book fancy nancy book that would come out at the book fair.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite books as a child were the Warriors series!! It was easy for me to read and I loved cats at the time. The main character is an orange tabby cat that runs away from his family to the forest, where he finds four different clans of cats that fight for territory and live the wild life away from humans. I liked it so much because I thought I could talk to cats and understand them. I read the whole first series and adored it.
ReplyDeleteI would like to write a kids book about stars, constellations, or space. I've had an infatuation with space since I was a child, so I would enjoy writing about it to inspire other children to see beyond our Earth.
DeleteGrowing up I didn't really read many kids books,at least from memory. Although the one I did read was "How do Dinosaur say Goodnight" and well it was kinda weird.Weird in the sense that it really didn't have a point other than kids should go to bed,but the art work and massive lizards made it appealing.
ReplyDeleteAlso I couldn't imagine writing kids book, kids are strait wack. To me kids are like Entropy(I know,I use that a lot) and this is because like entropy we know how it works, but its still the definition of random. The thoughts of children run violently,so you can what there thinking but not why,idk its strange and unless there of my blood I don't care about kids.Tiny Hitlers id say
